Grup Mediapro to telecast the European Games 2023

Grup Mediapro is set to deliver an extensive and comprehensive coverage of the European Games 2023, utilizing its vast experience in multi-sport event production

Grup Mediapro has announced that it would broadcast the 2023 European Games in Kraków and Maopolska in collaboration with the Festival Group in Warsaw. The firm has vowed to produce the “greatest European Games to date” and has promised to do this by utilising its vast experience in producing multi-sport events. Óscar López, the commercial and marketing director for Mediapro Broadcast and Media Services, showed his excitement at being chosen to telecast the event, saying, “Our experience in multi-sport event production will be made available to the European Olympic Committees, to deliver the best European Games to date.”

A team of 750 people will work to cover the event. Mediapro will use 15 high definition exterior broadcast equipment to cover all 29 sports at the competition. European Games Organising Committee President Marcin Nowak said, “Cooperation with a world leader in the audiovisual sector, with an established position in the world of sports is an honour for us, we are now sure that the summer Games will reach all sports fans around the world.”

What are the Grup Mediapro’s other responsibilities?

Grup Mediapro will be in charge of organizing, furnishing, and running the International Broadcast Centre (IBC), from which the television signal will be beamed all over the world. The organization has previous experience in this field; in addition to managing the broadcast operation for Santiago 2023 in October, which will have 1,900 hours of live coverage, it served as the host broadcaster for the 2019 Pan-American Games in Lima. Also, the group served as the main audio-visual vendor for the 2022 Mediterranean Games in Oran.

About the European Games 2023

In 2023, Kraków and Mapolska, Poland, will host the third edition of the European Games, also known as Kraków-Maopolska 2023. The competition will serve as a qualifying event for all Olympic sports for the Summer Olympics in Paris, France, in 2024. At an EOC General Assembly in Minsk in 2019, Kraków and the neighbouring Lesser Poland region were unanimously selected to host the event, and the agreement with the host city was signed on May 17, 2022.
