After Women’s Boxing Championship, India to host ISSF World Cup

The ISSF World Cup 2023 Bhopal will be taking place at the Madhya Pradesh State Shooting Academy in Bisankhedi.

India is all set to host the next ISSF Shooting World Cup in Bhopal from March 20 to March 27, 2023. The ISSF World Cup 2023 Bhopal will be taking place at the Madhya Pradesh State Shooting Academy in Bisankhedi. This is the third leg of the ISSF World Cup 2023 for Rifle/ Pistol events. India had topped the previous leg of the World Cup which was held in Cairo, Egypt. The nation clinched four gold and three bronze medals to finish on top of the table in Cairo. Earlier, India had skipped the ISSF Rifle/ Pistol event which was staged in Jakarta, Indonesia.

On March 21 at 6:00 pm, the Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh Shivraj Singh Chouhan will virtually begin the competition scheduled at Kushabhau Thakre Hall. Chouhan will virtually open the World Cup-prepared air-conditioned indoor shooting range. In addition, Chouhan will do Bhoomi Pujan at the International Sports Complex being developed at Barkheda Nathu. Foreign athletes and officials will be honored by the Sports and Youth Welfare Department with Chanderi stoles and Gond paintings.

Who all will be present in the inaugural ceremony?

The Minister of Sports and Youth Welfare of Madhya Pradesh Yashodhara Raje Scindia, Indian Shooting Sport Federation (ISSF) President Luciano Rossi, the General Secretary of the ISSF Wiley, the President of the National Rifle Association of India (NRAI) Raninder Singh, Vice President of the NRAI, Kalikesh Narayan Singh Deo, and General Secretary Kunwar Sultan Singh will all be present at the inaugural ceremony. 325 shooters from 33 nations are expected to compete in the ISSF World Cup.

What the MP’s Sports Minister Had to say

According to the Sports Minister of Madhya Pradesh, the ISSF world cup, which will be held in Bhopal beginning March 20, will be a huge success, similar to the Khelo India Youth Games. Yashodhara Raje Scindia, the minister of sports, said so on Tuesday while reviewing the MP Shooting Academy’s preparations. The National Rifle Federation of India (NRAI), New Delhi, is working with ISSF to organize the World Cup on a technical level. Four experts from SIUS Switzerland will also travel to Bhopal to assist with technical arrangements for the World Cup. 

When directing the officials, Scindia advised them to make all required preparations to guarantee the event went smoothly. In order to hold a good world cup, sports department officials are working day and night. They will do everything possible to make it a huge success, as per Scindia. In addition, an international shooting championship will be held in the indoor final range for the first time ever in the nation. For the upcoming ISSF World Cup Rifle/Pistol Shooting Championship, MP Shooting Academy is building India’s first indoor final range.
