With Kushagra Rawat and Advait Page in the finals of men’s 1500m freestyle, India will be hoping for the first medal in Swimming at Birmingham 2022. Advait and Kushagra qualified for the final after finishing fourth in their respective heats. The former clocked a timing of 15:39.25 secs in Heat 1, while the latter clocked 15:39.25 secs in Heat 2.
Advait Page is currently the national record holder in men’s 1500 m and 800 m Freestyle. The 20-year-old finished seventh and eighth respectively in 1500m and 800 m freestyle at the Asian Games, 2018. In 2017, the swimmer earned one gold, one silver, and one bronze at the Asian Age Group Championships. Advait also bagged a silver and bronze medal at the South Asian Age Group Championships in 2016.
Kushagra Rawat who specializes in freestyle swimming holds the Indian record in 400m Freestyle. He clocked 3:52.75 secs in the NSW State Championships held in Sydney, Australia to achieve this feat. In the short course (25 m), the 22-year has attained the best Indian time in 400m (3:49.04 s) and 800m (7:58.39 s) freestyle. Kushagra represented India in the men’s 400m freestyle at the World Aquatics Championships 2019.

The final of the Men’s 1500 m freestyle is scheduled to take place at 12:40 am (IST) on August 4, 2022. India’s Kushagra Rawat and Advait Page will be in action during the finals.
Srihari Nataraj registered the best Indian time, clocking 2:00.84 secs in the 200 m Backstroke event. However, the Tokyo Olympian couldn’t make it to the finals missing the direct qualification by 0.19 secs. The Indian has been kept as first on the reserve list of the 200 m backstroke event. Earlier, Nataraj finished fifth and seventh in the final of 50 m and 100 m backstroke events respectively.
