European Championships 2022 in Shotgun (Trap & Skeet) got underway on Aug 24 at the Larnaca Olympic Shooting Range at Tersefanou village in Larnaca, Cyprus. Reigning Olympic champion in men’s trap Jiri Liptak was among the few athletes who secured a quota berth in men’s trap shooting for Paris Olympics 2024. He was unstoppable in the finals of the men’s trap as he hit a perfect 31 out of 31 clays to grab the top position in the gold-medal match. Sweden’s Richard Levin-Andersson earned a Paris Olympics quota for his country finishing second in the final. He scored 25 hits out of 30 in his first senior-level final. Olympic bronze medallist Matt Coward-Holley bowed out of the championship during the semi-final and failed to defend his title.

In the women’s trap, Silvana Stanco from Italy defeated 18-year-old Lucy Charlotte Hall in a close contest to clinch the gold medal in the ongoing championship. Silvana hit 32 out of 35 clays, while Great Britain’s Lucy scored 31 to settle with the silver. However, both shooters secured their country quota places for the Paris Olympic Games 2024. The European Shogun Championships 2022 is the first event to serve quota places for the Paris Olympics 2024.
