The Washington Capitals will welcome the Montreal Canadiens to Capital One Arena for an NHL game on Saturday. The Capitals lost 3-4 against the Senators in their last game. Alex Ovechkin scored his 23rd goal of the season and 803rd of his career for Washington, which lost for the first time since Dec. 15.
Dylan Strome and Evgeny Kuznetsov also scored for the Capitals, and Darcy Kuemper made 41 saves in his second consecutive start. “Obviously, he was stunning tonight and he was stunning (Tuesday) against New York,” Ovechkin said. “It’s tough loss, it’s on us and we can’t do that.”
The Canadiens on the other hand lost 7-2 against the Panthers in their last game. Montreal, which has lost its past four, got goals from Arber Xhekaj and Josh Anderson. Sam Montembeault, claimed off waivers by Montreal from Florida in 2021, took the loss after making 34 saves. Barkov got the fourth hat trick of his career with three goals scored in vastly different ways.
