The game between the Toronto Maple Leafs and Philadelphia Flyers will take place at Scotiabank Arena on Thursday, December 22 at 2:00 PM ET.
The Toronto Maple Leafs will welcome the Philadelphia Flyers to Scotiabank Arena for an NHL game on Thursday. The Leafs won 4-1 against the Lightning in their last game. Michael Bunting, who had his 100th NHL point, Pierre Engvall and William Nylander also scored for Toronto. Matt Murray made 18 saves. Engvall and Nylander, who added assists, scored into an empty net late.
“I don’t know what part of the game they reinvented that had us perform like that,” Lightning head coach Jon Cooper said. “But note to self, don’t come to Toronto three days before the game.
The Flyers on the other hand won 5-3 against the Blue Jackets in their last game. Travis Konecny and Owen Tippett scored twice while Carter Hart recorded 30 saves. In a game that featured the two teams currently at the bottom of the Eastern Conference standings, Philadelphia (11-15-7) used its young core players of Konecny (25 years old), Tippett (23) and Morgan Frost (23) to carry the scoring load.
“As hard as it has been to eat all the losses (as coaches) … they are the ones who play,” Flyers head coach John Tortorella said. “I can imagine how they feel, but there are some good things going on for development and your team concept. You have to hang your hat on it somewhere or you will lose your minds.”
