The Tampa Bay Lightning will welcome the Detroit Red Wings to Amalie Arena for an NHL game on Tuesday. The Lightning won 4-3 against the Leafs in their last game. Mitch Marner broke the Toronto points streak record at 19 games, scoring short-handed and power-play goals in the Maple Leafs’ 4-3 overtime loss to the Tampa Bay Lightning on Saturday night.
Alex Killorn scored from the right circle 33 seconds in the extra period. Anthony Cirelli, who made his season debut followng shoulder surgery, passed the puck to Killorn for the winner. “It’s cool,” Marner said. “I grew up in the city. I love being part of this team now days. It’s special to me. It’s special growing up to watch this team play hockey. Now to have my name on something amazing, it’s hard to describe.”
The Wings on the other hand won 2-4 against the Blue Jackets in their last game. Dominik Kubalik and Lucas Raymond scored power-play goals. Austin Czarnik and Andrew Copp also scored, Filip Hronek, David Perron and Olli Maatta each had two assists and Ville Husso stopped 30 shots. Detroit was 2 of 5 on power plays. Marcus Bjork and Kent Johnson scored for Columbus, which has lost four straight at home. Boone Jenner had two assists and Joonas Korpisalo stopped 31 shots.
Czarnik started the scoring at 6:34 of the first, redirecting a centering pass from Jonatan Berggren. “The biggest thing for us is just get our feet moving and create energy for our lines and for our team,” Czarnik said. “If we are able to do that, we’re effective, and so far, we’ve been able to.”
