The Colorado Avalanche beat the Tampa Bay Lightning 3-2 in overtime in Game 4 and are on the brink of winning their first NHL Stanley Cup title since 2001. Nazem Kadri scored in dubious circumstances at 12:02 of extra time to give the Avalanche the win. Tampa Bay felt Colorado had too many men on the ice for the winning goal and their coach Jon Cooper suggested the goal should not have stood. Cooper said, “It’s going to be hard for me to speak. I’ll speak with you. You’re going to see what I mean when you see the winning goal. And my heart breaks for the players. Because we probably still should be playing.”

Nazem Kadri returns a hero for Colorado Avalanche

Being out with an injury since June 4, Nazem Kadri made an emphatic return as he skated in on Andrei Vasilevskiy and slipped a shot under the goaltender’s right arm to give Colorado Avalanche a 3-1 series lead. After the game, he said, “That was a huge win. A resilient win. I’ve been waiting for this my whole life. I figured it was time to join the party.”
