Sidney Crosby is regarded by many as one of the best ice hockey centre to have played in the National Hockey League (NHL). He was born on 7 August,1987 in Halifax, Nova Scotia. He played junior hockey for the Rimouski Oceanic. In his debut in the junior league, he scored one goal and added two assists. At the start of the season, he was named the QMJHL Player of the Week for two consecutive weeks and also went on to win the honour four more times as the season progressed. He became the first QMJHL player to win the RDS/JVC Trophy, the Michel Brière Memorial Trophy in a single season. He also was awarded the Offensive Rookie of the Year, Offensive Player of the Year and Personality of the Year award and was also honoured with the QMJHL All-Rookie and First All-Star Team honours.

He currently plays for the Pittsburgh Penguins having joined them way back in 2005. He was named the Rookie of the Year in his debut season in 2006 and has been in the NHL First All-Star Team 4 times. He has also been in the NHL Second All-Star Team 4 times and he won the NHL All- Star Game eight times. He was also presented with the 2019 NHL All-Star Game Most Valuable Player award and he is also a 3 times Stanley Cup Champion. He has also won the Mark Messier Leadership Award two times, the Ted Lindsay Award 3 times, the Conn Smythe Trophy 2 times and Hart Memorial Trophy 2 times. Sidney Crosby wears the #87 jersey for the Pittsburgh Penguins.

NFL Debut Season

Sidney Crosby was picked up by the Pittsburgh Penguins in the 2005 NHL Entry Draft. He started his first game on October 5, 2005 against the New Jersey Devils, and assisted Mark Recchi for the team’s first goal of the season which unfortunately ended in a 5–1 loss for his team. His debut season in the NHL was nothing short of appreciation as he registered franchise records in assists (63) and points (102) for a rookie, both of which were previously held by Mario Lemieux. He also became the youngest player in NHL history to score 100 points in a single season, and also was the only the seventh rookie ever to hit that stat. He ended his first season finishing sixth in the NHL scoring race and seventh in the NHL assist list.
