Pavel Datsyuk is regarded by many as one of the best ice hockey centreman to have played in the National Hockey League (NHL). He was born on 20 July, 1978 Sverdlovsk, Russian SFSR, Soviet Union. He started his professional career with the Detroit Red Wings and he was mentored and guided by fellow countrymen and Soviet stars Igor Larionov and Sergei Fedorov, as well as Detroit captain Steve Yzerman.

He last played for the Avtomobilist Yekaterinburg and retired from hockey on July 10, 2022. having joined them way back in 2007. He has been named in the NHL Second All-Star Team in 2009 and has played in the NHL All-Star Game on 4 occasions. He has won the Lady Byng Memorial Trophy four times and also won the Frank J. Selke Trophy four times. He is also a 2 times Stanley Cup Champion and won the Kharmalov Trophy that is presented to the Best Russian NHL Player voted by the Russian NHL Players in 2009. He was also Selected as one of the 100 Greatest NHL Players in 2017. He also won the Olympic Gold Medal in 2018 and the World Championship Gold Medal in 2012. Pavel Datsyuk wears the #13 jersey for the Detroit Red Wings.

Pavel Datsyuk was picked up by the Detroits Red Wings in the 1998 NHL Entry Draft. When Datsyuk began his NHL career for the Red Wings, and he was mentored and guided by fellow countrymen and Soviet stars Igor Larionov and Sergei Fedorov, as well as Detroit captain Steve Yzerman. He started along with Brett Hull and Boyd Devereaux and had a decent debut year although the length and difficulty of the NHL season forced him to miss out on a number of games at the end of the year for the preparation for the Stanley Cup playoffs. He provided three goals and three assists for his team in 2002 Stanley Cup run.
