Braden Holtby born on September 16, 1989, is a Canadian professional ice hockey goaltender who is currently an unrestricted free agent. Holtby was born in Lloydminster, Saskatchewan, but was raised in Marshall, Saskatchewan. He most recently played for the Dallas Stars of the National Hockey League (NHL). He previously played for the Washington Capitals and Vancouver Canucks of the National Hockey League (NHL). Holtby spent his junior career with the Saskatoon Blades of the Western Hockey League (WHL). The Blades struggled through his first two seasons with the team, and Holtby managed only 42 wins in 115 games.

Holtby openly supports LGBTQ+ inclusion and Black Lives Matter. He served as the Capitals’ LGBTQ+ inclusion ambassador from 2017 until his departure, a position that earned him a DC Pride Ally Award from the Capital Pride Alliance, and he attended the Capital Pride parade for a number of years while in Washington. He credits his dedication to LGBTQ+ issues to stumbling upon a Human Rights Campaign (HRC) Action Center housed in Harvey Milk’s home in San Francisco while on his honeymoon. In 2018, he spoke at the HRC’s annual dinner, where he introduced Adam Rippon; the following year, he headed a fundraiser with Monumental Sports and raised $18,300 benefitting HRC.

Who is Braden Holtby’s wife?

Holtby married Brandi Bodnar in 2013. Brandi Bodnar much like her husband is evasive and stays out of the public eye as much as she can. She too is evidently a supporter of the LGBTQ+ community albeit not as openly as her husband. Brandi and her husband also appear to be rather altruistic for they opened the doors of their home to fellow athlete Nathan Walker during a time of crisis. Holtby and his wife Brandi (née Bodnar) have two children and resided in Alexandria, Virginia for the 10 years he played for Washington. They relocated to Vancouver, British Columbia after he signed with the Canucks for the 2020-2021 season, then to Dallas when he joined the Stars.
