The game between the Philadelphia Flyers and New York Islanders will take place at Wells Fargo Center on Monday, February 6 at 7:00 PM ET.
The Philadelphia Flyers will welcome the New York Islanders to FLA Live Arena for an NHL game on Monday. The Flyers won 0-4 in their last game over the Jets. Carter Hart made 40 saves for his first shutout of the season in the Philadelphia Flyers’ 4-0 victory over the Winnipeg Jets on Saturday night.
“It’s obviously nice,” Hart said. “There were a lot of big blocks, a lot of good sticks in lanes. They do a lot of seam passes and we did a good job of denying that.” Noah Cates had a goal and an assist, Kieffer Bellows, Owen Tippett and Tony DeAngelo also scored, and Rasmus Ristolainen added two assists in the Flyers’ final game before the All-Star break.
“Going into the break, you just empty the tank and you’re not too worried about how you’re going to feel for the next game,” Cates said. “We’re feeling good about ourselves going into the break with a win. We’ve had a really good month here in January and we’ve got a couple of more big months coming down the stretch.”
The Islanders on the other hand won 2-1 against the Knights in their last game. The Golden Knights were hoping to get back on track before the bye week with a visit to Long Island, NY. Logan Thompson was strong in net, holding the Islanders scoreless in the 1st period. After the opening 20 minutes the game was locked in a 0-0 tie. The scoring picked up in the middle frame with both teams matching goals.
Early on in the period the Islanders took the first lead of the game, but William Carrier evened the score for Vegas with 3:52 remaining in the second period. After 40 minutes, the game was locked 1-1. Both goaltenders were excellent in the final period, keeping the game tied for the entire period to force overtime. Late in OT, New York ripped one by Thompson to win 2-1 on home ice.
