The game between the Ottawa Senators and Washington Capitals will take place at Canadian Tire Centre on Thursday, December 22 at 7:00 PM ET.
The Ottawa Senators will welcome the Washington Capitals to TD Garden for an NHL game on Thursday. The Senators lost 5-1 against the Jets in their last game. David Rittich made 35 saves for Winnipeg. It was the first time this season the netminder has started consecutive games. Connor Hellebuyck was missing because of a non-COVID illness.
“It’s not a great thing (we’re) not having him here, but it feels good to have two starts in a row and finally get a win,” said Rittich, who was in net for Winnipeg’s 3-2 loss Sunday to Seattle and is now 5-3-0 this season.
The Capitals on the other hand won 4-3 against the Red Wings in their last game. Nic Dowd scored twice in 11 seconds and assisted on Dmitry Orlov’s overtime winner to help the Washington Capitals hand the Red Wings their sixth consecutive loss, 4-3 Monday night with Ovechkin still waiting for his next major milestone.
“We played much more of our identity: hard to play against,” captain Dylan Larkin said. “We battled. It was like a playoff game tonight. It goes to 3-on-3 overtime, we don’t get the extra point. It’s frustrating, but we’re trying not to get too down on this effort because we feel it was a positive effort.”
