In other news, the General Manager of the Philadelphia Flyers has been relieved of his duties and there is more interesting news that went around in the NHL world. So, let’s look at some news that you would have missed.

David Quinn was fined $25,000

David Quinn, the head coach of the San Jose Sharks, was penalized $25,000 for his behavior during Saturday’s match against the Washington Capitals. Quinn was ejected from the game because of his disrespectful behavior towards the referees, according to the NHL, which issued the fine.

During the third period, the event happened. The Sharks were two goals behind, and the coach was not pleased with several of the officials’ choices. He was kicked out of the game after using some strong language at the referees. The Sharks ultimately dropped the contest 8-3.

David Quinn’s fine will be donated to the NHL Foundation, a nonprofit organization that supports a variety of causes and activities. The NHL Foundation is dedicated to giving back to the communities that support hockey while also advancing the sport’s growth.

This event serves as a reminder that everyone involved with the NHL must follow the league’s code of conduct. Hockey is a passionate and emotional sport, but respect for referees and the game itself is crucial.

Chuck Fletcher released and relieved of his duties

Chuck Fletcher, the general manager and co-president of the National Hockey League’s Philadelphia Flyers, has been relieved of his duties. This formal notification was made by the Flyers via their Twitter account.

While the move by the Flyers was not unexpected, TFP’s David Pagnotta stated earlier today that there is a lot of activity in Philly. The Canadian professional ice hockey executive feared being dismissed from his GM duties soon.

TFP’s Anthony Di Marco reported about 1 a.m. ET on Friday that the Philadelphia Flyers were making significant changes to their front office. Chuck Fletcher, the general manager, is likely to be relieved of his duties. And now that it’s official, people are hoping that something will change in their performance.

According to a source within the organization, Daniel Brière, the club’s Special Assistant to the GM, is being seriously considered to replace Fletcher. Immediately following their announcement, Daniel Brière was designated Temporary General Manager.

Other management members, including some of the club’s top advisers, may also be dismissed from their duties. Fletcher is not the only one who has suffered as a result of the team’s reorganization.

NHL: Elliotte Friedman wishes a healthy recovery to Kirill Kaprizov

Minnesota Wild fans were left stunned after star forward Kirill Kaprizov was hurt during Wednesday night’s game against the Winnipeg Jets. Kaprizov has pulled off the ice in the third period after suffering a lower-body injury in a stick collision with Jets defenseman Logan Stanley.

In the 32 Thoughts podcast, hockey expert Elliotte Friedman discussed the injury, expressing hope that Kirill Kaprizov’s rehabilitation time will be closer to three weeks rather than four.

“I just think everybody here agrees that nobody wanted to see this guy out of the playoffs. I am hoping that it will be closer to three weeks. Nobody wants to see a player injured, especially a player who can really determine a playoff series like he can at this time of the year.” Friedman said

Friedman did not feel the collision between Kaprizov and Stanley constituted a dirty play, despite the severity of the injuries. He described it as a regrettable occurrence that culminated in a negative conclusion, with Kaprizov trying a reverse hit and Stanley’s bigger stature causing a contact that resulted in the injury.

“When I saw it, I didn’t think it was a dirty play, it looked like an unfortunate accident. I thought Kaprizov was trying to do a reverse hit to which I have no problem with and Stanley being so much bigger than him just folded onto him and it was a bad outcome.” Friedman said

NHL: Mitch Marner expresses his gratitude to the Toronto Police

Mitch Marner of the Toronto Maple Leafs thanked the Toronto Police Department for their work in making arrests in a carjacking case that affected him last year.

The two guys were arrested in Etobicoke in April and May 2021 for two different carjackings, and while police have not verified whether the second incident featured Marner, it occurred just two days after the Leafs were ousted in Game 7 of the playoffs by the Tampa Bay Lightning.

Marner’s black 2021 Land Rover was stolen but subsequently returned, and he and his fiancée were threatened. Marner discussed the incident during the team’s practice on Friday and expressed relief with the arrests, saying:

“It just puts a lot of trust in the Toronto Police, knowing that they’re getting the job done, not stopping, and trying to fix this problem,”

Mitch Marner was approached by a Toronto detective who gave him the lowdown on everything after the two guys were brought into jail with purported items of evidential value. Marner extended his thanks and admiration to the officers for their efforts.

One suspect is still on the loose and is considered armed and dangerous. Christon Arman Johnson, 24, of Brampton, is charged with robbery with a firearm, disguise with purpose, and refusal to comply with a release order on two counts, while Anas Adan Farah, 21, of Toronto, is charged with robbery with a firearm and disguise with the intent on one count. The first accused carjacking vehicle, a 2020 white Audi R8, was never found.
