The Montreal Canadiens are taking a short road trip to New York this weekend. First the Islanders, then the Rangers on Sunday night. Stop 1 was a valiant effort, but the Islanders won him 2–1. It has been a tough road for Jonathan Drouin, who is still waiting for his first goal of the season. But with a game like Saturday Night, it has to come quickly. Drouin was the best Canadian player that night.
Drouin is definitely learning how to play points with an extra man now. It took a while before he felt comfortable as the last man again, but he’s doing well. He tracked the puck well and as a result, held it at the blue line many times. He also nets much harder shots than people give him credit for. He also plays great passing with his good eyesight. For Drouin, it wasn’t just about having a good night on power plays. He has his two standout looks and he certainly seemed to have that goal. Especially the first time he lunged down the left side and took 12 feet.

Drouin also seems to enjoy the game. He was interviewed on Thursday about Josh Anderson being robbed of a particular goal for crossing the line. Drouin accepted everything and smiled at his happiness. I felt like he was comfortable in his own skin. We all hope so. Drouin is a fine young man and whatever difficulties he faced on the ice, they made his life different from the challenges other players face.
