The New York Islanders will welcome the St. Louis Blues to UBS Arena for an NHL game on Tuesday. The Islanders won 3-0 against the Blackhawks in their last game. Patrick Kane had a goal and two assists and Max Domi scored twice as the Chicago Blackhawks beat the New York Rangers 5-2 Saturday night to snap an eight-game losing streak.
Reese Johnson and Taylor Raddysh also scored for Chicago, which won for the first time since Nov. 12 at Anaheim and had won just two of its previous 16. Petr Mrazek stopped 21 shots over two periods and Arvid Soderblom had five saves in the third as the Blackhawks improved to 6-3-0 at Madison Square Garden since February 2012. “It’s huge. We’ve been looking for it for a while,” said Domi, who leads the Blackhawks with nine goals. ”Our special teams were solid and we found a way to stay composed with the game on the line.”
The Blues on the other hand lost 6-4 against the Rangers in their last game. Jordan Kyrou had a goal and an assist, and Pavel Buchnevich, Vladimir Tarasenko and Ryan O’Reilly also scored for the Blues, who have lost six of seven since a seven-game winning streak. Jordan Binnington had 18 saves.
St. Louis led 4-3 entering the third period before Miller tied it with his first goal of the season at 4:48. Lafrenière’s go-ahead goal came at 8:16 as he tipped a long shot by Zibanejad past Binnington for his fourth. “It’s good to score one,” Lafrenière said. “I will try to keep going with consistency in my game … Our third period was really good. We can score when we work hard.”
