The New York Islanders will welcome the New York Rangers to UBS Arena for a local derby in the NHL on Wednesday. The Islanders were beaten 3-2 in their last game by the Florida Panthers. Anders Lee scored the two goals for the Islanders as they were beaten narrowly and as a result fell to their fourth loss of the season.
Islanders coach Lane Lambert spoke after the game and said, “We have urgency every day. There is no concern that the right pieces are here. It’s just a question of generating chemistry and if things are not going the way we want, we’ll have to move some guys around. They understand that.”
The New York Rangers on the other hand lost their last game 3-2 to defending champions, Colorado Avalanche on Tuesday. Goals from Barclay Goodrow and Adam Fox were not enough as the Avalanche nicked the game by one goal. Jacob Trouba tried very hard as he had 8 shots on goal but was not able to get past Alexandar Georgiev in the Colorado goal.
After the game, Rangers coach Gerard Gallant was full of praise for the opposition and lauded them for their fast play. He said, “They played really fast. No surprise, the Stanley Cup champions are a quick and fast team.”
