Cole Caufield scored two goals and was the only Montreal player to get on the scoresheet. None of his teammates were able to get past Lukas Dostal in the Ducks goal as he finished the game with 23 saves and a save percentage of .920.

The Tampa Bay Lightning on the other hand come into this game on the back of a 4-1 win over the Columbus Blue Jackets in their last game. Brandon Hagel scored two goals as Pierre-Édouard Bellemare and Brayden Point scored one goal each as the Lightning won their 19th game of the season.
