At Crypto.com Arena on Tuesday, an NHL matchup between the Los Angeles Kings and the Vegas Golden Knights will mark the start of the new season. Vegas had a dismal season last year; despite ending with 94 points, they were unable to advance to the playoffs. Vegas’ off-season was rather quiet, as they lost some important players from the club from the previous year. Max Pacioretty, Mattias Janmark, Dylan Coghlan, and Evgenii Dadonov have all left the team. Phil Kessel and Adin Hall were the major signings.
Adin Hill and Phil Kessel were the two major arrivals this summer. The top line for the preseason has been made up of Reilly Smith and Jack Eichel. If that line remains together, they’ll need to be among the best scorers in the league if this club hopes to contend in the Western Conference. In this game, Logan Thompson is anticipated to start in goal.
The Los Angeles Kings, who concluded last season with 99 points but were eliminated in the first round, are on the opposing side of this contest. The Kings didn’t do much over the summer either, but they did make a significant acquisition. Kevin Fiala, a forward, will significantly improve this offensive and will be greatly relied upon in this contest. The Kings did lose several significant players, notably Olli Matta and Dustin Brown, both of whom will be missed. Phillip Danault made significant progress from the previous year and will need to carry it forward in this situation. Goalkeeper Jonathan Quick will likely make his debut.
