The game between the Florida Panthers and New York Rangers will take place at FLA Live Arena (Sunrise) on Sunday, January 1 at 5:00 PM ET.
Both the New York Rangers and the Florida Panthers are attempting to build on good season openings. With seven victories in their past ten games and a record of 19-12-6, the Rangers have moved up to the middle of the Metropolitan Division. The Panthers now sit at the bottom of the Atlantic Division with a record of 16-17-4 and only three victories in their last ten games. Because both clubs want to advance in their divisions, the forthcoming game ought to be a good one.
Despite averaging 3.14 goals per game during the whole season, the Rangers’ offensive has suddenly deteriorated, scoring just one goal in their previous two games. Artemi Panarin, Vincent Trocheck, and Mika Zibanejad have dominated the top two lines with a combined 37 goals and 71 assists, while the rest of the attack has faltered. Kaapo Kakko and Jimmy Vesey, who both play important roles in the front line but have only combined for 15 goals and 12 assists this season, are hoped to step up.
With their offensive ramping up and averaging 3.24 goals per game, including seven goals in their previous two games, the Panthers are enjoying a bright season. Carter Verhaeghe and Matthew Tkachuk lead the top line with 35 goals and 38 assists, but the rest of the attack has also contributed. While defenseman Brandon Montour and Gustav Forsling have added 11 goals and 42 assists from the point to help open up the attack, Aleksander Barkov, Sam Reinhart, and Sam Bennett have combined for 28 goals and 48 assists.
