The game between the Edmonton Oilers and Seattle Kraken will take place at Rogers Place (Edmonton) on January 17 at 10:00 PM ET.
The Kraken was a big surprise this season. Despite only scoring one goal against the Lightning, the Kraken has exploded aggressively in their last 10 games, scoring a total of 44 goals in that span. Seattle’s offense has been remarkably consistent throughout the season as he averages 3.76 goals per game, his third highest in the league. With 3.34 GF/60, he’s the NHL’s best offense in the 5v5 game. They scored at will offensively, but Kraken’s defense struggled, allowing him 3.07 goals per game. Phillipp Grubauer started against Lightning on Monday night, so Martin Jones could be Seattle’s man in blue in that event.
Jones has a staggering record of 21-5-3, but his numbers aren’t very impressive. 895 average and he enters this game with 2.76 goals. He also allowed his 5 goals on 27 shooting in his final start against the Blackhawks. The Kraken was able to hold off the Oilers by two goals behind him in their last matchup, but this will be his second game in a row, so it might be a little difficult for them. Conor McDavid has been a really great player this season. McDavid has amassed 83 points this season, putting him 15 ahead of Leon Draisaitl’s 68 points for his second-most teammate. McDavid entered this game on a seven-game streak of points, scoring five goals and providing six assists. Drysaitl has scored four goals in his last three games.

During their three-game winning streak, the Oilers conceded a combined 17 goals, conceding just five. The Oilers’ defense and goalkeepers were fine, but nothing outstanding. As a team, Edmonton concedes his 3.29 goals, which is actually worse than his 3.19 xGA/60.
