The Columbus Blue Jackets will welcome the Calgary Flames to Nationwide Arena for an NHL game on Friday. The Blue Jackets lost 4-9 against the Sabres in their last game. Patrik Laine and Gustav Nyquist each scored twice for Columbus. Joonas Korpisalo stopped two shots before being pulled in the first in favor of Elvis Merzlikins, who stopped 15 shots through the second period.
Korpisalo returned in the third and finished with six saves. Columbus has lost six straight home games and five of its last six overall.“We didn’t have an answer for that one line,” Blue Jackets coach Brad Larsen said. “Tage Thompson just tore us up tonight.”
The Flames on the other hand won 5-3 against the Wilds in their last game. Tyler Toffoli scored twice, including an empty-netter, and Nazem Kadri and Blake Coleman added goals for Calgary. Elias Lindholm had three assists for the Flames, who won their third straight. Calgary earned eight points during a five-game homestand and now heads out on a three-game trip.
Rasmus Andersson scored a tiebreaker at 15:57 of the third period and had two assists as the Calgary Flames rallied to beat the Minnesota Wild 5-3 on Wednesday night. “Obviously not the start we wanted,” Andersson said. “First 10 minutes weren’t good enough, but we got a little bit of momentum toward the end of the first that we carried with us to start the second.”
