The game between the Buffalo Sabres and Florida Panthers will take place at KeyBank Center (Buffalo) on January 15 at 1:00 PM ET.
The Buffalo Sabers have only scored five goals in their last three games, so how did they score five against the Nashville Predators tonight? has become too predictable. I said that after losing to the Jets on Thursday. I also knew that the Sabers needed to change something. Tonight, they did just that, finding the pace and passing the Predators’ defense countless times, making life difficult for goaltender Juuse Saros, one of the best goalies in the league.
The Sabers also worked for the pack better in that game, keeping the Predators busy all night. I also noticed that Blue and Gold were playing fearlessly and trying longer and riskier passes. This allowed him to stand behind the Predators’ defense when the two met. Faster play and a dedication to ruthless attack made the Sabers much more difficult to predict. In previous encounters, especially against Seattle and Winnipeg, they created many chances, but there was no real change in their game.

Predictable was an understatement. If you’ve watched this team play closely throughout the season, you probably knew exactly where the puck went in the last two games. That wasn’t the case tonight, and the Sabers need to keep playing like this to get close to wild card competition. Overall, Buffalo has been a good game offensively for the Sabers. But they have to go out and play that same game at Monday’s matinee against the Florida Panthers. It’s one thing to be aggressive one night from another point of view, but you have to be consistent here.
