The Coyotes (and the Penguins as well) will be in action tonight in pursuit of their first win of 2023. Arizona went into the new year with his 0-3-0 and is on his four-game losing streak overall. But they have won his three home games here, including his surprise 6-3 victory over Toronto last week. Tonight will be his third game for Arizona in four days since his last game in Chicago, which he lost 2-0 on Friday night. The Penguins need to head home quickly to face the Vancouver Canucks on Tuesday night. Then Pittsburgh will have his two-day vacation at the end of the month. Winnipeg is in town on Friday and Penns is in Carolina on Saturday night, with an All-Star schedule increase in his break.

The Penguins beat Arizona like a drum on opening night on October 13, when he beat 6-2 (feels like a long time ago, doesn’t it?). Sidney Crosby scores and adds two assists in the win. Arizona has a strong record of 7-3-2 in its strange but tumultuous 4,600-seat college hockey arena, and they have a foreseeable future. The Coyotes are a team that calmly walks away when it’s not their night, and if they lose by two-thirds, they go 2-16-1. However, if they are in the game, going into the third period with a lead or tie makes it 11-4-4. It’s normal to have an obviously good record if you don’t lose late, but the division in this team runs very deep. Give them a reason to hang out and they will.
