Joe Staley is regarded by many as one of the modern greats and one of the best football offensive tackle ever to grace the National Football League (NFL) and currently retired and played for the San Francisco 49ers. He was born on 30 August,1984 in Rockford, Michigan. He played college football for the Central Michigan Chippewas football where played from 2004 to 2007. He received an athletic scholarship to attend the Central Michigan University. He started his freshman season as a tight end and played in 11 games as a true freshman, catching 11 passes for 130 yards and one touchdown. He got a career-high two catches for 34 yards and a touchdown against the Eastern Michigan University.

Due to his tall figure, Joe Staley was moved to the offensive line during his sophomore season where he started all 11 games in the right tackle spot. He was named in the preseason All-MAC First Team selection by Athlon Sports and MAC Report Online. Joe Staley played for the San Francisco 49ers throughout his NFL career. He was awarded the PFWA All-Rookie Team in 2007, the Second-team All-Pro in 2011,2012 and 2013 and the Pro-Bowl six times. He was also selected in the NFL 2010s All-Decade Team. Staley lost both the Super Bowl in 2012, where the Baltimore Ravens defeated the 49ers by 34-31 and in 2019, where the 49ers lost to Kansas City Chiefs by 31-20. He wore the #74 jersey for all the teams he represented.

NFL Debut

Joe Staley was picked up by the San Francisco 49ers in the 2007 NFL Draft in the first round. Staley started as his career and his debut season as the starting right tackle and he finished the season with 16 starts and allowed 8 sacks. In the 2008 NFL season, he was moved to left tackle and started every game, allowing only 8.5 sacks. Before the 2009 season, Staley signed a six-year contract extension with the 49ers but missed seven games of the season with a sprained knee, but managed to start all the other nine games allowing just 3 sacks and having no penalties called against him.
