Calvin Johnson is regarded by many as one of the modern greats and one of the best wide receivers ever to grace the National Football League (NFL). He was born on 29 September 1985 in Newnan, Georgia. He played college football for Georgia Tech and he won the All-American honours twice. He was selected by the Lions in the 2007 Draft. He played for the Detroit Lions between 2007 and 2015. He was included in the College Football Hall of Fame in 2018 and the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 2021. He also won three consecutive first-team All-Pro selections from 2011 to 2013 and appeared in six consecutive Pro Bowls from 2010 to 2015.

Johnson was named to the Georgia Tech Sports Hall of Fame in 2016. He won the ACC Rookie of the Year award in 2004 and 2006. He was also a part of the First-Team All-Atlantic Coast Conference in 2004, 2005 and 2006. He also received the ACC Rookie of the Week honour four times in his college career and also won the Biletnikoff Award in 2006. Johnson was also the winner of the famous Paul Warfield Trophy in 2006.

NFL Debut

Calvin Johnson was picked up by the Detroit Lions in the 2007 NFL Draft. The contract he signed was worth up to $64 million, with $27.2 in guaranteed money, making Johnson the highest-paid player in Lions history and the highest-paid receiver in the NFL at that time. He started his NFL career on September 9, 2007, against the Oakland Raiders catching four passes for 70 yards and also got his first career touchdown leading his team to a 36-21 victory. On October 21, 2007, he scored his first and only professional rushing touchdown against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on a 32-yard reverse play in the 23–16 victory. Calvin ended the 2007 season with a high averaging 15.8 yards on 48 catches. Calvin Johnson wore the #81 jersey number for the Detroit Lions.

Calvin Johnson is married to American Experiential Marketer Brittney McNorton Johnson since 2016. She worked for Lion’s front desk and the pair met each other there. She also worked for Fox Sports while her in Detroit Lions. They were in an award show when Calvin went down on his knees and proposed to her for marriage having known her for a couple of years before that. The couple currently lives in Detroit.

Brittney McNorton did her college at Michigan State University and graduated in 2008 with a Bachelor’s degree in Art, Communication specializing in Public Relations. She was also a member of a sorority, President of Public Relations for Delta Zeta Chapter and Alpha Kappa Alpha. Calvin Johnson and Brittney Johnson have no kids with each other yet but Calvin also has a son named C.J. from his previous relationship.
