NFL: Dallas Cowboys' Amari Cooper fined by NFL for violating COVID-19 policy

Amari Cooper was fined 14,650 dollars by the NFL for violating the league’s COVID-19 policy. According to ESPN’s Todd Archer, Cooper violated policy after he did not wear a mask at a Dallas Mavericks game as an unvaccinated player. According to league policy, unvaccinated players can attend sporting events as long as they are wearing a mask, are seated in a luxury suite and not surrounded by more than 10 people.

AMARI COOPER NEEDS TO BE CAREFUL

The Cowboys’ receiver missed two games this season after testing positive for COVID-19. In 15 games this season, the three-time Pro Bowler caught 68 of 104 targets for 865 yards and eight touchdowns. His production trailed off from where it was the previous two seasons, when he averaged 86 receptions for 1,153 yards and seven touchdowns. 

Cooper admitted that he was bothered by his lack of targets this season. 

“We’re not really as explosive as we should be,” Cooper said of the Cowboys’ offense. “We’re not converting a lot of their turnovers into touchdowns. A lot of them are field goals. And I feel like I could be a huge part of that, so that’s what frustrates me … I think I can do more in the red zone if I get some targets. I can do more on third down if I get the targets. To help the offense be what we need to be, I think I can definitely help change that.”A

Cooper has a change to recoup his money during Sunday’s wild-card playoff game against the 49ers. Players on the winning wild-card team receive 21,000 dollars, with the losing team earning 19,000 dollars.
