Kirk Cousins passed for 221 yards and had one touchdown pass and three interceptions as he completed 27 of his 46 passes. Irv Smith Jr ran for 36 yards and scored the only touchdown for Minnesota. After the game, Vikings head coach Kevin O’Connell said “It felt at times, me included, like we pressed a little bit.”
On the other hand, the Detroit Lions come into this game on the back of a 36-27 win over the Washington Commanders and as a result sit in third place on the NFC North table with a 1-1 record. Quarterback Jared Goff had a great game as he passed for 256 yards and had four touchdown passes as he completed 20 of his 34 passes. Amon-Ra St. Brown ran for 116 yards and scored two touchdowns while Josh Reynolds and D’Andre Swift scored one touchdown each.
Detroit head coach Dan Campbell said after the game, “That was a good win for us. We needed that. That was No. 1. They were getting a little momentum and to get that, it reset us a little bit and gave us a chance to breathe. It proved to be a big play.”
