The Jaguars come into this game on the back of a 24-13 loss to the Cleveland Browns last week. Quarterback Trevor Lawrence had a good game with 95 passing yards and one touchdown while Jake Luton and CJ Beathard had one interception each.
Running back Travis Etienne played for the first time since suffering a foot injury last preseason and ran for 23 yards. He also had a 10-yard reception that set up a field goal. They scored on each of their first three possessions showing significant signs of progress as new coach Doug Pederson leads another rebuild in Jacksonville.
On the other hand, the Steelers come into this game on the back of a 32-25 win over the Seattle Seahawks last week. All of Pittsburgh’s quarterbacks had a good game as Kenny Pickett, Mason Rudolph and Mitch Trubisky had two, one and one touchdown each. Kenny and Mason passed for 95 and 93 yards respectively in what was an impressive win.
Wide receiver Gunner Olszewski, George Pickens, and Tyler Vaughns had one touchdown each while running back Jaylen Warren also had one touchdown. It was a total team performance and Steelers coach Mike Tomlin was happy with what he saw. After the game, he said, “They moved their units. They did the informal things associated with the position from a leadership and communication standpoint. It was a good first time out for all three.”
