The Cowboys (9-3) have won three straight games entering this week. As 16.5-point underdogs going into this game, the Texans (1-10-1) are struggling. There is no way to sugarcoat how poor this football club is—Houston has the worst record in the league. The Texans were the first club this season to experience a mathematical postseason elimination. Surprise, huh? The Texans struggle to consistently excel at anything on either side of the ball.

Dameon Pierce would be the shining star if I had to choose one. This season, the rookie has started all 12 games, rushing for 861 yards on over 200 attempts. Although he only has three touchdowns to his name, he averages nearly five yards per carry.

With Pierce, for the Texans to employ the same offensive strategy that the Colts did recently with Jonathan Taylor. Run a lot and early. In two of his games, Pierce surpassed 130 yards on the ground. Weeks four and nine will be played against the Chargers and Eagles, respectively. On the other hand, he only gained eight yards on the ground twice in November. They have struggled with it.

The Texans’ game against the Cowboys is the PERFECT opportunity to let others get their feet wet and see if they can contribute and get a feel for game tempo against one of the weakest teams in football. Anthony Brown has been lost for the season for the Cowboys.

Houston’s top receiver this year is Brandin Cooks. On 71 targets, he has caught 44 passes for 520 yards and just one score. Yikes.

The first opportunity will go to Kelvin Joseph, who took Brown’s place after his injury last week, and we are all aware of how the supporters already feel about him. Another name to keep an eye out for is Nahshon Wright, who has been working with cornerbacks coach Al Harris to improve.
