Three days after his bizarre exit from the Buccaneers’ win over the Jets, Antonio Brown is still officially part of Tampa Bay’s roster. When the former Pro Bowler removed his pads and shirt in the middle of the Bucs’ game, doing jumping jacks and flashing the peace sign in front of the MetLife Stadium crowd on his way out of the stadium, most assumed he’d be released immediately. But the Bucs are still discussing next steps with the NFL, and Brown himself hinted at his unclear future in a Cameo video on Wednesday, telling a fan that he’s “trying to figure out … where I’m going.”

ANTONIO BROWN OFFICIALLY STILL A TAMPA BAY PLAYER

Brown was paid to address a question about the Vikings’ 2022 offseason on Cameo, but he used the opportunity to reference his own situation: “I would love to have an opinion to tell you … what the Vikings should do with Kirk Cousins, Mike Zimmer, their offense, the defense. But man, I’m tryin’ to figure out my team, my squad, what I’m doing, where I’m going.”

Bucs coach Bruce Arians was emphatic when asked about Brown’s role on the team after his Week 17 incident, telling reporters postgame that he is “no longer a Buc.” The two sides have also traded differing stories regarding the reason for Brown’s abrupt in-game departure, with Brown reportedly alleging that Arians and Bucs coaches wanted him to play on an injured ankle despite a lack of medical clearance. Suffice to say, Brown’s days wearing a Buccaneers uniform have almost certainly passed.

But Tampa Bay has yet to officially waive the veteran as it speaks with the NFL and NFL Players Association. They could be looking into the legality of waiving him with an injury designation amid Brown’s reported claims regarding his health, or considering a suspension for conduct detrimental to the team, or simply placing Brown on injured reserve.
