Washington Wizards

The Washington Wizards will welcome the Detroit Pistons to Capital One Arena for an NBA game on Tuesday. The Washington Wizards lost 112-93 in their last game over the 76ers. Washington (31-37) got a career-high 25 points from Corey Kispert and 13 from Bradley Beal, but dropped its fifth game in its last six. The Wizards also fell out of a tie for the 10th and final spot in the Eastern Conference’s play-in tournament, a half-game behind idle Chicago.

“The biggest thing was that we didn’t have any pace in the half court,” Wizards coach Wes Unseld Jr. said. “Beyond just getting the ball up, but trying to play off the dribble too much instead of the power of the swing pass and letting the offense work for you.” Philadelphia’s defense had struggled despite its winning ways in recent weeks. In six games during March, the Sixers had allowed 119.2 points a game and 41% from behind the 3-point line.

That wasn’t the case against Washington, which could not generate anything beyond the 3-point arc. The Wizards shot 6 for 26 from beyond the arc. The Sixers had forward P.J. Tucker more as a rim protector matching up against Washington’s Kristaps Porzingis, ending Embiid away from the basket to provide length against Beal and Washington’s 3-point shooters.

Detroit Pistons

The Detroit Pistons on the other hand won 117-97 against the Pacers in their last game. James Wiseman had 18 points and 14 rebounds as the Detroit Pistons ended an 11-game losing streak with a 117-97 win over the Indiana Pacers on Monday night. The Pistons, who hadn’t won since beating San Antonio 138-131 in double overtime on Feb. 10, led by 31 points in the first half and held off an Indiana surge late in the second quarter and early in the third.

“When you come in having lost 11 or 12 games in a row — whatever it was — you know you have to stay focused to win a game,” said Cory Joseph, who had a game-high 22 points. “We played extremely hard and got off to a great start.” Jalen Duren put up 12 points and 11 rebounds and Killian Hayes had 10 points and 11 assists.

“Our guys played with a lot of grit tonight, and I think we surprised the Pacers a little bit,” Pistons coach Dwane Casey said. “This was a little like the playoffs — we made some adjustments from Saturday and they made some adjustments — but the difference was our toughness.”
