The Washington Wizards will welcome the Milwaukee Bucks to Capital One Arena for an NBA game on Tuesday. The Washington Wizards lost 118-109 in their last game over the Knicks. Corey Kispert led Washington with a career-high 29 points. Johnny Davis had 16 and Taj Gibson added 14. The Wizards never got closer than eight the rest of the way.
Washington was without its top three scorers: Bradley Beal (23.2), Kristaps Porzingis (23.2) and Kyle Kuzma (21.2). Porzingis missed his second straight game with a non-Covid illness, while Beal (sore left knee) and Kuzma (sprained right ankle) have been out for six and seven games, respectively. … In eight games against his former team, Porzingis has averaged 21.1 points, 9.0 rebounds and 2.0 blocks. … No one on the Wizards’ roster has played in all of the team’s games this season.
Avdija has only missed one. Immanuel Quickley added 22 points and Obi Toppin had 21 for the Knicks, who won their fourth in a row and will be in the postseason for the second time in three years. They had missed the playoffs the previous seven seasons. “Making the playoffs is a great accomplishment, but it’s one of several,” Knicks coach Tom Thibodeau said. “It’s the next step along the way. Just keep checking the boxes.”
The Milwaukee Bucks on the other hand won 117-104 against the 76ers in their last game. Milwaukee coach Mike Budenholzer believes Giannis Antetokounmpo has done enough to merit a third MVP award. Antetokounmpo says he’s more concerned about trying to win a championship. Antetokounmpo outperformed fellow MVP candidate Joel Embiid as the Bucks moved one step closer to clinching the Eastern Conference’s top seed. The other main MVP candidate is Denver’s Nikola Jokic, who won the last two seasons.
“When you think about the MVP, it just puts pressure on yourself,” Antetokounmpo said after scoring 33 points, 14 rebounds and six assists in the Bucks’ 117-104 victory over the Philadelphia 76ers on Sunday. “At the end of the day, I’m happy. I’m happy where I am in life. I’m happy I’m blessed with this talent. And I’m happy I’m able to go out there every day and chase my dream that I had as a little kid, try to improve, go out there and play with an edge.”
