Toronto Raptors

The Toronto Raptors will welcome the Minnesota Timberwolves to Scotiabank Arena for an NBA game on Saturday. The Toronto Raptors won 128-111 in their last game over the Thunder. Pascal Siakam had 25 points and 14 rebounds to help the Toronto Raptors beat the Oklahoma City Thunder 128-111 on Thursday night, extending their season-high home winning streak to six.

Jakob Poeltl had his third straight double-double with 16 points and 12 rebounds for the Raptors. Gary Trent Jr. added 23 points and Fred VanVleet and Scottie Barnes each had 19. O.G. Anunoby scored 17 points for Toronto as all five Raptors starters reached double figures, and a season-high six scored 15 or more. “There was a lot of good, good stuff there,” Toronto coach Nick Nurse said of his team’s balanced attack. “I really liked our transition offence tonight.”

The Raptors outscored Oklahoma City 23-6 on fast-break points. “Toronto was on brand tonight,” Thunder coach Mark Daigneault said. “I thought they were the aggressor. A lot of the fast breaks in the first half were off of our turnovers, which we know they’re obviously really capable of.”

Minnesota Timberwolves

The Minnesota Timberwolves on the other hand lost 139-131 against the Bulls in their last game. Minnesota All-Star Anthony Edwards left with a sprained right ankle in the first quarter, and the Timberwolves lost for the fourth time in five games. Mike Conley led Minnesota with 28 points, nailing a career-high 8 of 12 3-pointers. Rudy Gobert finished with 21 points and 19 rebounds before fouling out in the first OT, and Jaden McDaniels scored 25 points.

Edwards was hurt late in the first quarter when he landed awkwardly after jumping while throwing a pass. He stayed down clutching his ankle before being helped to the back, and coach Chris Finch wasn’t sure how long he’ll be out, though Edwards wasn’t ruling out playing at Toronto on Saturday. “I’m gonna see how it feels tomorrow,” he said. “Hopefully I can play.”

Losing Edwards, who came into the game averaging 25 points and made his first All-Star team this year, would be a big blow for the Timberwolves, particularly with Karl-Anthony Towns appears poised to return from a calf injury that has sidelined him for most of the season. The Timberwolves are trying to avoid the play-in and build some momentum with the regular season winding down.
