Kevin Nash speaks on Roman Reigns' epic WWE world title reign

Although a huge percentage of the WWE Universe was not thrilled with The Tribal Chief defeating fan favourite babyface Cody Rhodes at WrestleMania 39, but Roman Reigns' remarkable stint as Undisputed WWE Universal Champion has been mainly well-received by fans.

With his current reign of 958+ days in 2022, Roman Reigns became the longest-reigning Universal Champion, the sixth-longest global title reign in the promotion’s history, and the longest reign of any WWE championship since 1988. Kevin Nash, a WWE Hall of Famer and icon, has his own take on the situation.

During the most recent episode of his Kliq This podcast, the Hall of Famer discussed the Tribal Chief’s supremacy. Nash compares Reigns’ current run to the great streak achieved by Cal Ripken Jr. in MLB.

“That close to 1,000 [days], you have to do it. It’d be I’d like [Cal] Ripken had turf toe and would have just taken a day off. There’s certain milestones, and right now, he’s too close to 1,000. You’re only gonna be as successful as your top guy, and Roman’s the top guy right now. Roman has the cool factor, Roman’s your money guy.” [H/T: Fightful Select]

Nash also discussed whether Cody Rhodes should turn heel or not. “Yes. I don’t mean this as any slight to anybody, but I look at people’s pops, and people’s pops during the start of my career to this past Sunday. You could take everybody, you could take Hogan, Rock, Shawn, Taker, Bret, Roman, Cody, put them all in a basket, and put them in the ring, and then have Austin’s f***** glass break, and when shit was in his wheelhouse, and there was nothing as electric and as that f***** [pop] because he was the real deal. He was every man’s champion. That was my boy, man. That was my friend. I would watch that, I’d be so f***** proud, like f*** yeah.”

Roman Reigns’ WWE Undisputed Champion reign may run throughout 2023

BetOnline’s oddsmakers predicted who will conclude the year as the Undisputed WWE Universal Champion or if the belts were divided, either the WWE or Universal Champion. If you’re seeking to bet, the reigning champion, Roman Reigns, is the favorite at -115. That puts him ahead of both “American Nightmare” Cody Rhodes and The Rock, who isn’t even on the WWE roster, at +200.

Are you looking for a long shot? Edge, Santos Escobar, Solo Sikoa, Rey Mysterio, and Butch of The Brawling Brutes all have +10,000. But, recent challengers Sami Zayn (+600), Kevin Owens (+500), and Drew McIntyre (+500) are in a better position to take a bit of a risk in exchange for a huge return.

Two distinct titles imply two different favorites in the women’s game. Rhea Ripley, the newly minted “SmackDown” Women’s Champion, is now at -120, while Bianca Belair, the queen of “WWE Raw,” is at -115. Some prominent names to consider betting on include Charlotte Flair, who is a little underdog at +150, and Becky Lynch, who is a +200 underdog with Ronda Rousey. Liv Morgan is considered less serious at +1000, while Zoey Stark of “NXT” has some of the longest odds at +5000.
