Houston Rockets

The Houston Rockets will welcome the Denver Nuggets to the Toyota Center for an NBA game on Tuesday. The Houston Rockets lost 109-134 in their last game over the Lakers. Alperen Sengun notched his third straight double-double with 18 points and 15 rebounds, Jalen Green scored 24 points and Kevin Porter Jr. chipped in 20 points. Prior to this stretch, Sengun had one double-double over the previous nine games played.

The Lakers owned a 70-60 halftime lead, which the Rockets cut to six with 9:38 to go in the third quarter on a reverse layup by Green. With 30.3 seconds left in the third quarter, James got a roar from the Lakers fans with an emphatic one-handed tomahawk dunk to bring the Lakers’ lead back to 16. That was a part of a 20-7 run by Los Angeles to extend the lead to 117-90 with 7:56 to go.

“You know a guy his size, his ability to get downhill and also make those quick reads, I mean you see it on TV and people can tell you about it, but being actually in the game setting and that’s your matchup,” Kenyon Martin Jr., who scored 11 points, said. “It’s something you got to experience, so that’s the tough thing about guarding (James).” “That’s an experienced group over there that really needed the win,” Rockets coach Stephen Silas said. “And then a bunch of young guys who are trying to figure it out, who fought and tried. Hopefully learned something tonight.”

Denver Nuggets

The Denver Nuggets on the other hand won 112-110 against the Warriors in their last game. Jamal Murray scored 26 points and blocked Klay Thompson’s 3-point attempt in the final seconds, and the Denver Nuggets held on for a 112-110 win over the Golden State Warriors on Sunday night. Michael Porter Jr. had 29 points and 11 rebounds and Aaron Gordon added 13 points and 10 rebounds for short-handed Denver.

Denver (52-26) moved within a game of securing home-court advantage in the Western Conference. A victory in the final four games or one loss by Memphis will give the Nuggets the No. 1 seed for the first time in franchise history. “I love the fact we’ve been in first place since the middle of December, but this is all geared towards the postseason and how we perform,” coach Michael Malone said. “I know when the season is over, that’s how we’re going to be judged.”

Nuggets center Nikola Jokic missed his third straight game with calf tightness that first cropped up against Milwaukee on March 25 and lingered against Philadelphia on Monday, Malone said.
