The Dallas Mavericks are in a difficult situation. They undoubtedly expected better outcomes after putting their chips on the table at the trade deadline to acquire Kyrie Irving. As a result, Luka Doncic’s dissatisfaction has risen.

During a recent defeat against the Charlotte Hornets, Doncic expressed his frustration and stated that he is not having fun at the moment. This spurred some rumors of a trade request, but nothing is imminent. Yet, if he is dealt, this deal with the New Orleans Pelicans may make sense.

The outline of the trade looks in favor of the Mavs. As Dallas Mavericks may trade Luka Doncic for Brandon Ingram, Herbert Jones, Dyson Daniels, 2024 1st-Round Pick (via LAL, can pick either 2024 or 2025), 2024 1st-Round Pick (swap option with MIL), 2025 1st-Round Pick, 2026 1st-Round Pick (swap option with MIL), 2027 1st-Round Pick, 2029 1st-Round Pick.

Any deal for Doncic will be significant. Dallas would acquire an All-Star, an exceptional young defender, a top-tier prospect, and six first-round selections in this scenario. Three of the picks would be unprotected Pelican selections, with the remaining three being exchange possibilities with the Los Angeles Lakers and Milwaukee Bucks. Jones would require a new contract before this transaction could be completed.

This would ensure a Doncic-Zion Williamson duo for the Pelicans in the future. CJ McCollum, Jonas Valanciunas, Naji Marshall, Trey Murphy III, and Jose Alvarado would also remain in the rotation. Doncic is unlikely to request a move anytime soon, but given his previous statements, the possibility cannot be ruled out.

Luka Doncic for his recent poor performances says, ‘I don’t feel it’s me’

The Mavericks’ loss to the Hornets, who were missing several key players, brought these feelings to the surface. Doncic was irritated after the game and made statements that may lead to the conclusion that he is sick of Dallas.

“This season hasn’t been what we thought it was going to be. But we still got time to make up [for it],” Doncic said via the Fanatics View YouTube channel.

For his recent bad performances Luka added saying, “It’s really frustrating,” Doncic said. “I think you can see it with me on the court. Sometimes, I don’t feel it’s me. Just being out there. I used to have [a lot of] fun. Smiling on the court. But it’s just been so frustrating. For a lot of reasons, not just basketball.”
