It was not enough that Minnesota Timberwolves lost to the Wizards and Warriors in back-to-back games. Their star player might have faced an injury they just cannot afford. No one could have foreseen that Kristaps Porzingis would have out outperformed Karl-Anthony Towns and Rusy Gobert in the same game. It is reported that Minnesota Timberwolves star Karl-Anthony Towns will undergo an MRI on Tuesday, but there’s some early optimism that he may have avoided a substantial injury to his lower right leg, sources tell ESPN.

Towns grabbed at his leg and went down near midcourt. He was helped off without putting weight on the leg, and the team announced that he had a right calf strain. Kyle Kuzma scored 23 points for the Wizards, and Bradley Beal added 22. Anthony Edwards led the Timberwolves with 29. Kristaps Porzingis scored a career-high 41 points, including 29 in the first half, and the Washington Wizards beat Minnesota 142-127. Karl-AnthonyTowns has been one of the more Injury prone stars that the league has seen. The Wolves cannot afford to lose their star at this juncture in the season.

Karl-Anthony Towns suffers a right knee injury yet again

Karl-Anthony Towns and his right knee is a story as age as time. On four different occasions since the 2019 season, Towns had sat out due to his right knee. Towns exited in the third quarter of Monday night’s 142-127 loss to the Wizards with what the Timberwolves called a right calf strain. “Hopefully, that’s where it comes down,” coach Chris Finch said. It was NBA insider Adrian Wojnarowski was the first to report the injury. He said,” Timberwolves F Karl-Anthony Towns appeared to suffer a non-contact injury to his lower right leg and needed help to locker room vs. Wizards.” It is still not reported if Karl-Anthony Towns will accompany the team for their next fixture against the Memphis Grizzlies.

Minnesota Timberwolves to remain optimistic about the injury

There has been no report about the gravity of the injury as of yet, but the Timberwolves remain optimistic that it is not serious in nature. Karl-Anthony Towns will go under an MRI to give a better outlook on the injury, but the overall atmosphere is that he will return soon. The burden of guarding the paint would fall on Rudy Gobert and offensively on De’Angelo Russell and Anthony Edwards.

One can expect Naz Reid to see extended minutes as well. Minnesota Timberwolves coach Finch said , “We’ll just have to figure that out. We’re going to have to look at what our options are with who else is available at that point,”.
