The LA Lakers will take on the New Orleans Pelicans in an NBA Summer League game at the Thomas & Mack Center on Friday, July 15. Both these sides are heading into the matchup after convincing wins in their previous games.
The LA Lakers were up against their inter-city rivals, the LA Clippers. Knowing the importance of the game, the Purple and Gold brought in a lot of intensity. Mason Jones once again stepped up for them as he scored 15 points and grabbed 10 rebounds against the Clippers. Another player that had a significant contribution to the win is Javante McCoy, who racked up 14 points on 70% shooting from the field. Sacha Killeya-Jones and Nate Pierre- Louis also chipped in with 11 and 10 points respectively. Things were neck and neck between the teams till the third quarter. However, the Lakers took things up a notch in the fourth quarter and walked out with an 83-72 win on the night.
The Pels, on the other hand, were dominant in their game against the Washington Wizards on Wednesday. Deividas Sirvydis led the scorers with 25 points on 52.9% shooting from the field. He came off the bench, but his contributions were vital for the team in the 106-88 win. Jared Harper and Daeqwon Plowden scored 18 points each on the night, while Dereon Seabron added 13 points. The Pelicans were dominant right from tip-off. Despite not playing their main player, Trey Murphy III, they flourished. This will certainly give them the needed confidence when they take the court against the Lakers.

EJ Liddell of the Pelicans will be indefinitely out of the game due to an ACL injury. No other casualty has been reported by both the teams so far.
