If L.A endure the impending slog and qualify for the Play-In Tournament, they will almost certainly meet the Pelicans in the first round.

With many poor performances, Lakers seem to be in a very bad condition. LeBron in his 19 years career never would have been this dissapointed as it is getting more and more difficult for the L.A to at least reach the play-offs. Winning the title is totally a different point. James have only missed 3 play-offs in his whole career and with Laker’s poor performance looks-like 4th is on its way.

The play-in tournament is the L.A’s last chance to make the playoffs. Much speculation, especially on this page, has centred on whether or not the Lakers will host the single elimination game between the ninth and tenth seeds. One source warns Lakers supporters to bear in mind that L.A are only a game and a half ahead of the Spurs for the tenth slot.

On an edition of the Hoop Collective podcast, ESPN’s Brian Windhorst discussed how L.A’s difficult remaining schedule, compared to the Spurs’, may jeopardise the purple and gold’s postseason prospects.

“Spurs have a significantly easier schedule and, right now, Spurs have the tie-breaker. The Lakers are probably going to get in. Anthony Davis is getting close to getting back. All I’m saying is, people are watching where the Lakers are, nine and ten [seed] – keep an eye on the Spurs. The Spurs have a significantly easier schedule. Especially over this next ten, 12 days over the Lakers.”

Do Lakers have any chance?

If L.A endure the impending slog and qualify for the Play-In Tournament, they will almost certainly meet the Pelicans in the first round. Over the previous 15 games, New Orleans is in the top-five net rating in the league, making this one a formidable matchup.

If LA beat the Pelicans, they will face the winner of the Nuggets vs. Timberwolves or the Timberwolves vs. the Clippers. It’d be an intriguing aame for Lakers. But if it comes right down to the Clippers and L.A, the Clippers have crushed the Lakers seven times in a row.

When you add it all up, there’s a lot that has to go perfectly for LeBron and the Lakers to reach the playoffs. It is impossible to believe for now, but the King is known to perform miracle’s.

Also, former L.A player Shaquille O’Neal have high hopes for his former team as he says,

“If they make if to the eighth spot, they will beat Phoenix” ?
