The NBA season just got over and the trade and the rumour mill has got everybody talking. The one name that is constantly in the news is Kyrie Irving. The All-Star point guard from Brooklyn has been in the news recently because there have been reports coming out that the Brooklyn Nets and Kyrie are not able to agree on a deal. Obviously, this has everybody interested because they want to know where Kyrie wants to go. Former NBA player Kendrick Perkins was on ESPN’s First Take when he was asked where Kyrie should end up going and he pointed out to someone that Irving knows very well.
Perkins said, “It’s the Lakers. It’s the Lakers. LeBron James and Kyrie Irving, look, we can talk about Kyrie Irving and him playing elite-level basketball consistently. We haven’t seen that since he was with LeBron James. In the postseason with the Cleveland Cavaliers, they were 39-13 with Kyrie Irving and LeBron James. Here is the thing. When I look at the Los Angeles Lakers and I said this before when I came on here about a month ago, Kyrie Irving going back to the Lakers, we all know who his mentor was in Kobe Bryant.
“I think him wearing that Lakers uniform, playing in LA, you know, having somewhat of that mamba mentality is going to drive him and push him along with him pairing up with Anthony Davis and LeBron James, I mean they would have to be the favourites to win it all, right?”

Stephen A. Smith was also on the show along with Perkins and he had a very different take. Going by Irving’s list which had names like the Lakers, Clippers, Knicks, Heat etc, Smith said he would find it very interesting if Kyrie went to the Miami Heat because he would have met his match in Pat Riley who is the president of the Miami Heat.
Smith said, “I would love to see Kyrie Irving in Miami. Why don’t you go and talk to LeBron James about Miami? Who runs Miami? Pat Riley. That’s the don. You don’t get to roll up to South Beach and run the show. You’ve got to show up to practice on time. You’ve got to make the plane and the bus on time. You don’t get to come when you want to and leave when you want to. You don’t get to skip practices. Oh no, you don’t get to do that. So I find it very interesting that that was one of the teams that he mentioned.”
