Kyrie Irving issued a heartfelt apology to the Jewish community and reiterated that he was at no level anti-semitic. The point guard had shared the link to an Amazon documentary, which was believed to spread hatred towards the Jewish community. This didn’t sit well among many people across the game and it eventually led to the Brooklyn Nets deciding to suspend him for more than five games without pay.

Kyrie Irving met with NBA commissioner Adam Silver and Nets owner Joe Tsai, both of whom confirmed that the seven-time All-Star was not anti-semitic. However, in his interview with SNY’s Ian Begley, Irving himself came out in the open and apologised to the entire community about all that had gone down. He said:

“I don’t have hate in my heart for the Jewish people or anyone that identifies as a Jew, I am not anti-Jewish or any of that. And it’s been difficult to sit at home with my family, with them seeing all this and having questions and the part that’s been harder than explaining myself, because I know who I am and what I represent and I think the difficult aspect is processing all this, understanding the power of my voice, the influence I have, I am no one’s idol, but I am a human being that wants to make impact and change. I am sorry to not only the Jewish community but to my family members, relatives because they know I stand for something bigger and I am grateful that now I get to explain myself.”

Kyrie Irving could be back for the Brooklyn Nets this Sunday

Kyrie Irving has been listed as questionable for the Brooklyn Nets’ game against the Memphis Grizzlies on Sunday. With the team ranked tenth in the East with a 7-9 record, his presence would certainly be of great help against a strong Grizzlies team. However, the team management will have to decide if they would want to give the former NBA champion minutes as he has been out for weeks now.

Undoubtedly, his presence would make things easier for them. His ability to score and draw defenders towards him makes him one of the most offensively gifted athletes. He along with Kevin Durant could make things very difficult for the Grizzlies, who have lost Ja Morant to an ankle injury. While the Nets may believe that to make things easier for them, the Grizzlies are not worried about it as they have a stellar record when Morant is not playing.

Kyrie Irving is one of the biggest weapons of the Brooklyn Nets. However, his lack of commitment towards the game has affected his stint with the team. If he manages to keep all the noise outside and dedicate himself completely towards basketball, Irving could help the Nets turn their season around.
