Steph Curry is one of the best point guards in the NBA. He recently clinched his fourth NBA championship and made a case for himself on the All-time list by winning the Finals MVP trophy. Many heaped praise on him for all the work he had put in leading the Golden State Warriors to their sixth NBA Finals in eight years.

However, Kendrick Perkins took things up a notch when it came to appreciating Steph Curry. The former NBA champion picked Curry over LA Lakers legend Kobe Bryant. When asked by Mad Dog Russo, who he would pick between Curry and Kobe, Perkins said:
“I’m taking Curry”

For anyone that loves the game of basketball, there is no doubt that Kobe is an inspiration. Picking Curry over a player of his stature certainly shocked many in the studio including analyst Mad Dog Russo and host Molly Qerim.

Undoubtedly, Steph Curry is one of the greatest players to ever touch a basketball. He is 34 years old and still has a lot more that he can achieve in his career. However, Perkins believes that the four-time champ is a generational talent that has changed the game forever. Speaking more about him on “The First Take,” Perkins said:

“He ranks number four and he is on Mount Rushmore right now Molly, right now he’s on Mount Rushmore. Again I have to come out here time and time again and repeat myself about being a generational talent, okay, we know Michael Jordan is on Mt Rushmore, we know that LeBron James is on Mt Rushmore and look you can pick whoever you want on number three, whether its Wilt, Kareem, Magic, Bird or whoever, but at number four it’s Steph Curry.”

Steph Curry is one of the best shooters in the history of the game. He is still a championship behind equalling Kobe Bryant. However, his contribution to the game is as massive as the Black Mamba. Drawing comparisons between the two is very difficult as both played completely different brands of basketball. Curry’s game is predicated around off-the-ball movement and shooting, while Bryant did all of his work with the ball in his hands. Both were great in their own ways and achieved a lot playing the game their way.

How good is Steph Curry?

Steph Curry has broken many three-point records in his career. Shooting is his ace weapon. But there are a lot more things that make him great. The 34-year-old is brilliant in the pick and roll and shoots well off screens. The Warriors’ style of play requires a lot of movement and that is another strong point for Steph Curry.

Guarding him is tough not only because of his sharpshooting ability but also because of his movement. His defense has also massively improved over the years and he has become a force on that side of the floor as well. Along with his brilliance in scoring, Steph Curry is also a stellar playmaker. He draws opponents towards him and that is what opens the gates for his other teammates to cause damage.

To sum it all up, Curry is one the most valuable players for the Warriors. A lot of what the team does revolves around him. Going into the 2022-23 season, the team will be entering in hopes of repeating as champions. If they are to do that, Steph will have to make sure that he continues playing the same high-octane level of basketball.
