Orlando Magic

The Houston Rockets will welcome the Washington Wizards to Toyota Center for an NBA game on Wednesday. The Magic won 119-114 in their last game over the Timberwolves. Jalen Green scored a career-high 42 points and the Houston Rockets held on for a 119-114 victory over the Minnesota Timberwolves on Monday night to snap a 13-game losing streak.

Green, the second overall pick in the 2021 draft, had 21 points by halftime and kept up his strong play in the second half to lead the Rockets to their first victory since Dec. 26 at Chicago. They ended their longest skid of the season and also a 10-game home losing streak, winning at home for the first time since Dec. 13 against Phoenix. Green bounced back after shooting just 3 of 13 with 10 points in a loss to the Timberwolves on Saturday night.

“He was ready for tonight,” Silas said. “It was time for us to buckle down and have a focused game for 48 minutes and he was the leader of that tonight.” Green said he was “a little bit in my head” after his bad game Saturday but was determined to turn things around. He was thrilled that his big game helped Houston end its skid. “It feels good,” he said. “My guys relied on me, coaches relied on me. We needed that. We were desperate for it. And we came out and executed.”

Washington Wizards

The Wizards on the other hand won 126-127 against the Mavericks in their last game. Kyle Kuzma scored 30 points and made one of two free throws to break a tie with 4.2 seconds remaining, lifting the Washington Wizards to a 127-126 victory over Dallas Mavericks on Tuesday night.

Luka Doncic had 41 points and 15 rebounds for the Mavericks. Doncic still had on the jersey he ripped when he missed a free throw that would have put Dallas in front with 12.5 seconds to go when he bumped Kumza on a drive along the sideline.

The Mavericks challenged, but the call was confirmed. Kuzma missed the first free throw but swished the second. “I think there was some debate about whether he stepped out, whether he (was) fouled,” Wizards coach Wes Unseld Jr. said. “Thankfully, fouled. Those types of situations happen fast. You’ve got to make a split-second decision.”
