At Toyota Center, the Houston Rockets and San Antonio Spurs will begin their preseason for the 2022–23 season. The discussion of these teams’ near futures will have plenty of time. Jalen Green and Jabari Smith Jr., Houston’s top two choices, are the biggest draws. Everyone is interested in seeing how Smith Jr. gels with the current group of Rockets, and the Rockets will want to see the same Green they had in the second half of the previous season. We’ll see how he does with the main club after his Summer League performance, which was much below par.
Don’t be shocked if you see little to no Eric Gordon in the preseason since coaches often give veterans smaller workloads. The same applies to the new Oklahoma City trade additions. Who will start for the team is the final piece of the jigsaw. There will be a challenging decision for Stephen Silas. The five most often used starters during the previous season were Kevin Porter Jr., Jalen Green, Gordon, Jae’Sean Tate, and Christian Wood. Alperen Sengun ought to occupy those minutes as Wood is now traveling to Dallas.
