The Milwaukee Bucks are one of the best teams in the Eastern Conference. Led by Giannis Antetokounmpo, the 2021 champions have a stacked roster going into the 2022-23 season. Their coach Mike Budenholzer is tactically sound and has transformed them into becoming a force in the league. After having lost out to the Boston Celtics in the Eastern Conference Semifinals, the Milwaukee Bucks will be looking to respond strongly during the next campaign.

Their star forward Khris Middleton missed out on the series against the Celtics and that proved to be a significant factor in their loss. However, the three-time All-Star is set to take the court after recovering from the injury. Aside from that, there are a lot of positives for the Bucks next season. In today’s article, we take a look at five Bucks players who are going to play a big role for them during the 2022-23 season.

Giannis Antetokounmpo

Giannis Antetokounmpo is regarded by many to be the best player in the league. He is a force on both ends of the floor and his resilience is what has helped the Bucks become one of the best teams in the NBA. The two-time MVP had a busy offseason with the Greece national team as he played for them in the Eurobasket tournament. Although his country did not win the tournament, the Greek Freak averaged 29.3 PPG, which was the highest for any player there. This is an indication of how prepared Giannis is coming into the 2022-23 season. He has never failed to impress the fans with his performances. If he continues his tremendous form in the postseason and it all works well, the Bucks could be able to get to their third championship in franchise history.

Khris Middleton

Khris Middleton is one of the most important players in the Milwaukee Bucks team. Without him, their offense seems to have problems as he is a vital piece that helps them get going there. This was evident as the Bucks lost their enthralling seven-game series to the Boston Celtics during the 2021-22 NBA Playoffs. He has many a times taken clutch shots and helped the Milwaukee Bucks out of difficult situations. When defenses try and stop Giannis from imposing his will, Middleton sort of takes over the game. The partnership between the two has helped the Bucks massively. It will be a key factor for the Bucks going into the next season as the competition in the East is a lot tougher

Jrue Holiday

Jrue Holiday is one of the best two-way players in the league. As a point guard, he has elite court vision and often throws unbelievable passes to get the better of resolute defenses. Meanwhile, defensively, he is a brilliant on-the-ball defender. Since his arrival, the Milwaukee Bucks have improved as a defensive unit. He always delivers and the organisation would hope nothing different from him next season.

Bobby Portis

Bobby Portis was one of the biggest free agents available in the market this offseason. Golden State Warriors was believed to be one of the teams that were interested in signing him. But the 2021 NBA champion decided to run it back with the Milwaukee Bucks as he agreed to a four-year $49 million deal. He is a fan favourite as his toughness and work ethic is second to none in the league. Portis is a sensational defender and can also knock down three-point shots with ease. The team use him as a starter and also bring him off the bench at times. He is versatile and can play at the three, four or five position on the team. Having worked hard throughout the offseason, Portis will be a player to watch out for next season.

Brook Lopez

Brook Lopez is another key part of the Milwaukee Bucks team. He is a shot blocker, who can be elite from beyond the arc. Last season, Lopez started the season late as he was recovering from back surgery. However, this time around, the veteran has gotten enough time to prepare going into the 2022-23 season. Lopez will be looking to continue playing at a high level as the team need him to lead from the front if they are to win the championship.
