The Boston Celtics put on a display against the Brooklyn Nets at TD Garden thanks to three days of relaxation. After a record first quarter, the C’s had a 30-point lead over Brooklyn and didn’t look back. Their 79 points in the first half were their greatest since 1990. From then, they easily won by a score of 139-96.

Boston had a blistering 48.1% (36-44) 3-point shooting percentage as part of its 57.6 percent overall shooting percentage. Jaylen Brown scored 26 points, while Jayson Tatum scored a game-high 31. The fourth quarter was skipped by both Celtics stars even though the game was already won. For Brooklyn, Cam Thomas scored 19 points off the bench and Kyrie Irving scored 20.

In their game against the Phoenix Suns on Friday night, the Celtics will try to keep up their winning streak. Here are our key learnings from the C’s convincing victory against the Nets, which improved their record to 37-15.

Celtics came with a bang

With their greatest first quarter of the season, the Celtics instantly set the tone. Early on, the Nets took a punch to the mouth and never really recovered. Brooklyn was defeated 46-16 in the opening frame by Boston. The Celtics outscored their opponent by 30 points in the first quarter for the first time ever in the history of the team.

The C’s opened up a 30-point advantage after only nine minutes. In order to do this, they opened the game by making eight straight 3-pointers and shot 62.1% (18-for-29) from the field.

It was Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown who gave the game a fast start. Tatum outscored the Nets by himself in the quarter with 18 points, while Brown added 12 of his own. They both made 7 out of 8 long-range shots in the period. According to Marc D’Amico of Celtics.com, the 46 points were the most that Boston has scored in a quarter in thirty years and the seventh-highest total in a single quarter in team history.

Twitter rips off Brooklyn Nets due to their poor performance

The fact that the Nets were unable to counteract the Celtics’ 3-point shooting ultimately made the difference as Boston’s accuracy determined the game early. The C’s made an astounding 26 3s in the game after making eight straight (3s; seven from Tatum and Brown) in the first quarter.

That is both the second-most 3-pointers made overall and the most in TD Garden franchise history. On November 5, 2022, the team’s record against the New York Knicks at Madison Square Garden was 27.

Tatum and Brown each made 7 out of 12 attempts from beyond the arc. They made seven 3s in one game, becoming the first teammates in C’s history to do so. The fact that they completed the feat in just three quarters makes it even more remarkable. With this Twitter went nuts and fan reactions were worth noticing.
