Brooklyn Nets vs Dallas Mavericks: Fans hail world class Luka Doncic as he helps Mavs beat Nets in overtime

Luka Doncic became just the 10th player in NBA history with three 40-point triple-doubles and that is incredible given that he is only 23 years old.

Luka Doncic produced one of his best ever displays as the Dallas Mavericks beat the Brooklyn Nets 129-125 in another scintillating night of NBA action. Doncic had a mean triple double as he scored 41 points and had 11 rebounds and 14 assists. It was quite the performance from the Slovenian.

“When we attack the paint, we’re a very dangerous team,” said Doncic, who became just the 10th player in NBA history with three 40-point triple-doubles.

Tim Hardaway Jr dropped 18 points from the bench while Maxi Kleber scored15 of his own. From the starters, only Spencer Dinwiddie, apart from Luka, scored in double digits as he finished the game with 11 points.

Luka Doncic receives praise from teammates

Maxi Kleber was full of praise for starman Luka Doncic and said after the game, “Obviously, Luka is probably the best guy to make tough shots and make shots when they count, but he also knows when to make the right basketball plays. And especially when we came into overtime, they were really aggressive with him and he made the right play, I don’t know, three or four times in a row. We just got hot and made all those shots.”

Tim Hardaway Jr admitted that he and his team were trying all they can to make the game as easy as possible for Luka, so that he can do his job. He said, “We’re just trying to do the best we can to make his job a lot easier out there on the floor when he gives the ball up, and the only way you can do that is knock down shots and take them with confidence and make a play,” Tim Hardaway Jr. said.

Similar problems plague the Nets

As for the Brooklyn Nets, this is their fourth loss and five games and the team just doesn’t seem to click at the moment. The problems from last year have not gone away as they seem very light on defense.

They are loaded on offense as was evident in this game. Both Kyrie Irving and Kevin Durant scored over 30 points. Kyrie dropped 39 points with 7 rebounds and 4 assists while KD scored 37 points with 5 assists and 3 rebounds. Ben Simmons could only muster 7 points as he is yet to convince in a Nets jersey.

Social media was abuzz with praise for Luka Doncic and in this article, we will take a look at the best ones.
