The World Rally Championship (abbreviated as WRC) is the highest level of global competition in the motorsport discipline of rallying, owned and governed by the FIA. There are separate championships for drivers, co-drivers, manufacturers and teams. The series currently consists of 12 three to four-day rally events driven on surfaces ranging from gravel and tarmac to snow and ice. Each rally is usually split into 15–25 special stages which are run against the clock on up to 350 kilometers of closed roads.
The rally begins off on Thursday night in front of large audiences in central Jyväskylä with an extended version of the thrilling mixed-surface Harju street stage. Saturday’s marathon leg has 150.30km of nonstop action, over half of the rally’s competitive route, and is centered on legendary rollercoaster roads around Jämsä. Patajoki and the brand-new Vekkula follow Päijälä and Ratsula, which draws music from the iconic Ouninpohja stage. Following service, the foursome is driven a second time. On Sunday, the tournament concludes with two laps through Oittila and the large jumps of Ruuhimäki, the second of which comprises the points-paying Wolf Power Stage.
