The match between the Miami Marlins vs New York Mets will take place at the Loan Depot Park on Tuesday, 24th June 2022 at 6:40 pm EST in U.S and in India Saturday, 25th June 4:10 a.m IST.
The New York Mets are poised to make their first postseason trip since 2016 under newly appointed manager Buck Showalter. The squad is presently in first place in the National League and is second only to the New York Yankees in terms of records in Major League Baseball. With SS Francisco Lindor and 1B Pete Alonso leading the club in home runs, the Mets have demonstrated their ability to score regularly. Even without the superstars, Jacob deGrom (shoulder injury) and Max Scherzer, their starting lineup has been strong (left oblique strain). Although a timeline for deGrom’s return has not been provided, Scherzer, who had a rehab start for Double-A Binghamton earlier this week, may join the Mets lineup this Sunday.
The Miami Marlins are now fourth in the NL East and have not finished with a winning record for an entire season since 2009. Despite losing three of four games to the Mets last week, the team’s lone 6-2 victory in the series sent a strong message: Sandy Alcantara, a RHP, is a leading candidate for the Cy Young Award. Alcantara defeated the Mets last Sunday, increasing his record to 7-2 with a 1.72 ERA in 14 starts. He only allowed two runs over eight innings. He agreed to a $56 million, five-year deal in November 2021 that runs through 2027. A Cy Young Award winner never appeared for the Marlins.
